Medical Clinic
“I am the LORD Who healeth thee” Ex. 5:26

“. . . by His stripes we are healed” I Pet. 2:24

Ethiopia is one of the most medically underserved nations of the world. With a population of over 80 million, there is only one medical doctor per 100,000 people. Imagine – only 800 doctors serve the entire country of Ethiopia. Now bring the illustration a bit closer to home. Imagine the population of Boston sharing the services of 10-12 physicians. Obviously, most Bostonians would not receive any medical care.

So it is in Ethiopia. Many factors contribute to this lack of basic medical care:

- Lack of trained medical doctors
- Inadequate medical facilities
- Lack of basic diagnostic equipment such as X-ray and ultrasound
- Government interference in the import of basic medicines such as
morphine and newer generation antibiotics

By providing a Pediatric Clinic for the children of Shone, Ethiopia, Look Development hopes to fill the gap left by extreme poverty and homelessness. Children will receive health care for perhaps the first time in their lives!

A rotating staff of doctors and dentists from the US will partner with a local nurse practitioner to meet the needs of the poor and orphaned of that community

“I go to prepare a place for you . . .” John 14:2

The village of Shone (show’-nay) is situated approximately 60 miles east of Sheshemene in south-central Ethiopia. With a population of over 300,000, Shone is the Tsegaye family’s ancestral home. Located 5 hours from Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa, Shone is dry and remote and has no infrastructure, save the paved 2-lane road that bisects the community.

It is in this rural setting that God has provided the gift of land to Look Development. One parcel is the land generously donated by the Tsegaye family and comprises 5 acres. There are two other parcels, gifted to Look Development by the government of Shone for a total of 15 acres.

Our God-led plan is to use the land to provide 10 homes which will house 5 orphans and 2 Ethiopian caregivers each, as well as a school and medical clinic to serve the orphans and community of Shone. This building project is a team effort between our Ethiopian brothers and sisters and our US-based team. We anticipate an 18-month to 2 year build time.
